CHARITABLE
PLANNING
Louise Montgomery Earle
Louise Montgomery Earle, daughter of Lillie Montgomery and Thomas Theron
Earle, was born in Greenville on June 10, 1899 and died August 24, 1991.
Her life was devoted to the education of young people. She taught school
in Asheville, Columbia, and Charlotte before retiring to Greenville.
The Louise M. Earle Foundation originated in 1988. It was created as
a result of the leadership of Miss Earle's cousin, O. Perry Earle Jr.,
who, with her, envisioned a charitable foundation that would continue
the proud legacy of Miss Earle and her sisters, Sarah Lee Earle, Juliet
Earle Jones, and Margaret Earle. The corpus of the Foundation was initially
funded from the estates of the Earle sisters. It is Miss Earle's desire
that funds in the Foundation be used primarily to benefit disturbed,
neglected, abused, and underprivileged children and to support those
organizations that assist these children.
